From a peddler's cart in the 1980s to a trusted name in Gujarat's scrap trading industry.
GEM Recycling was born from humble origins — a peddler business started in the 1980s, going door to door collecting scrap metal. In those early days, the work was physical, the margins thin, and the value in every kilogram of iron was earned through effort and integrity.
Over four decades, the business passed through generations, each building on the last. What was once a single-person operation grew into a family enterprise with reach across Gujarat. Today, the third generation carries the same values forward: honest weighing, fair pricing, and dependable service.
Ours is not just a scrap trading business — the family is active across multiple branches of the recycling industry, contributing to sustainability and the circular economy in different ways. We believe that recovering and recycling material is not just a business — it is a responsibility to the environment and the community.
To date, we have handled hundreds of tonnes of ferrous and non-ferrous material and maintained long-standing relationships with hundreds of businesses — factories, manufacturers, food processors, demolition contractors, and industrial units across the state.
The first generation begins collecting scrap door to door in Ahmedabad — ferrous metal, old tin, salvaged iron. The foundation of trust is laid one transaction at a time.
Operations expand as the second generation joins the business. Relationships deepen with industrial clients. Gujarat's manufacturing boom creates new demand for reliable scrap collection and supply.
The business broadens its material portfolio — aluminium, copper, brass and stainless steel join the mix. Logistics partnerships enable statewide reach across Gujarat.
The third generation now leads GEM Recycling, with a commitment to sustainability, honest trade, and building long-term partnerships with businesses across Gujarat.
Certified weighing, clear documentation, and straightforward settlements. We do not make deductions without reason and we explain every figure.
Scrap recycling keeps material in the circular economy and out of landfills. Every tonne we handle reduces the need for virgin ore extraction — that matters to us.
We are not interested in one-time deals. Hundreds of businesses come back to us because we are consistent, fair, and easy to work with.
Four decades in the trade means we can identify grades, advise on material preparation, and give you an accurate idea of what your scrap is worth — before we even pick it up.
We buy and sell bulk ferrous, non-ferrous and liquid waste materials across Gujarat. Pricing is market-linked and updated regularly.
Scrap metal is classified by its iron content. Ferrous metals (iron-based, magnetic) are the backbone of the steel recycling industry and are processed back into electric arc and induction furnaces. Non-ferrous metals — copper, aluminium, brass — carry higher value per kilogram and are refined into secondary ingots and wire rods. We deal in both categories, as well as select liquid waste materials.
Magnetic metals — the core of the recycling supply chain for steelmakers and re-rollers.
Mild steel scrap generated from fabrication, construction, and manufacturing. Accepted in the form of sheets, plates, rods, angles, channels, and mixed structural sections. Commonly re-melted in induction furnaces to produce billets and ingots.
BUY · SELL · PICK-UPHMS 1 and HMS 2 grades sourced from demolition sites, dismantled machinery, and industrial plant shutdowns. HMS is one of the most traded scrap grades globally, valued for its high iron content and predictable yield in electric arc furnaces.
BUY · SELL · PICK-UPSourced from engine blocks, machine tool bodies, brake drums, manhole covers, and pipe fittings. Cast iron has a high carbon content and is melted in cupola and induction furnaces for grey iron and ductile iron production.
BUY · SELL · PICK-UPNon-magnetic metals commanding stronger per-kilogram rates, priced against LME benchmarks.
One of the highest-value recyclable metals. We accept bare bright copper wire, insulated wire (with deduction for insulation weight), motor windings, copper tubing, and mixed Cu/Fe scrap. Copper scrap is refined into rods, busbars, and alloyed into brass.
BUY · SELL · PICK-UPAll grades accepted — extruded profiles, cast aluminium, UBC (used beverage cans), aluminium foil, and mixed/zorba aluminium. Secondary aluminium production from scrap uses approximately 95% less energy than primary smelting.
BUY · SELL · PICK-UPYellow brass, honey brass, red brass, and mixed brass accepted. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, recovered from fittings, valves, cartridges, and electrical components. Priced based on copper percentage and cleanliness of the lot.
BUY · SELL · PICK-UPGrade 304, 316 and 202 stainless accepted — industrial offcuts, kitchen equipment, process piping, and tank remnants. Stainless is valued for its nickel and chromium content and recycled into new stainless production.
BUY · SELL · PICK-UPCollected in bulk from hotels, food processing units, and industrial establishments.
Old tin containers from cooking oil, lubricants, and industrial oil. Collected in bulk from warehouses, kitchens, and commercial establishments. The tin is recovered and recycled back into the steel supply chain after processing.
BUY · PICK-UPUsed cooking oil from restaurants, hotels, cloud kitchens, and food manufacturers. Collected in bulk quantities and diverted to biodiesel production and industrial processing, keeping it out of drains and the environment.
BUY · PICK-UPWe actively assess new scrap categories as market conditions evolve. If you have material not listed here — lead, zinc, nickel alloys, e-waste metal components — reach out and we will advise on feasibility.
ENQUIREScrap metal prices fluctuate based on global commodity markets — particularly the London Metal Exchange (LME) for non-ferrous metals, and domestic steelmaker demand for ferrous grades. Rates vary by material grade, lot cleanliness, moisture content, and current market sentiment.
At GEM Recycling, we price based on the day's prevailing rate. We encourage clients to call us directly for a current quote — prices can shift week to week. We are transparent about our basis and always happy to explain how we arrive at a figure.
